A Trip to the ER *Beware of Blood*

I had planned on spending today doing some blogging. I have some wonderful reviews to post that I need to get up for our upcoming events now that midterms are over but of course something has prevented me from doing so.

The morning started out fairly normal but just as we were getting ready for lunch and naps (mom's working time) B & C came upstairs. B told me that C had bonked and when I looked his head was covered in blood. After a quick survey of the wound we had an uncle on his way to watch B & D and C & I headed to the ER. It seems that C fell and hit the side of our stone fireplace. I think (hope) he'll be a little more careful now. Two staples and a nap later everyone seems to be ok but the blogging will have to wait until tomorrow.

Saturday Savings - Clearance Time

I will begin this post by saying we spent more than I planed on this week but we also got some things we had been looking at for a while and spent a whole lot less than we would have. It is the season where clearance is everywhere and you've got to get your bargains while you can. We did our normal Target and Walgreens and then went to an awesome sale at PetSmart and stopped at Kmart too. As you can see we got some awesome stuff. My favorite was the Alpo for 35 cents a can! That made my day!

Total Spent: $162.80
Total Saved: $349.50 (68%)
Rewards Remaining: $20.00

Please note that my "total spent" includes sales tax.

What are Your Favorite Local Businesses?

With midterms over I am starting to look toward the summer and new ideas for the blog. One of the things I would like to do is more local business marketing. In order to do this however, I need to know a little more about you, my readers. Because I live in a relatively small town I'm going to assume that not many of you would want to win prizes for those local places that are near you. So, today I am asking for your help in making that happen.

Today what I would ask is that you take 5 minutes to answer the survey below. It is fast and will give me a much better idea of what you are looking for as readers of Kerrific. As a family the Kerrs are approaching a new stage of life and I would love to take Kerrific to new heights as well so please let me know what you would like to see and a little more about yourself we will see where it takes us.

As a side note, the survey results are completely anonymous.

We look forward to hearing what you have to say.

Maternity Leave

Thanks for the post from Sylvester Campbell

My husband and I have always been so busy with work that we didn’t have cable TV at home. We really didn’t have the time to watch TV, so we figured that it wasn’t worth spending any of our hard-earned cash on. We had a baby recently and I took a long maternity leave, so that all changed. I needed something to keep me sane through those long hours of diaper changes and feedings, so we went ahead and got DIRECTV. All of a sudden I am a bona fide TV addict. A lot of my friends are really shocked since for so many years I had no idea what was going on in TV land. They would talk about shows they watched and I could never be part of the conversation. Now I know who all of the TV personalities are that they have been talking about for years! Some of my favorites are The Food Network and The Cooking Channel. I have learned to make some awesome recipes, which makes my husband happy. I hope I don’t miss my shows too much when I go back to work!

I Love You More Than Chocolate Review

One thing I share with my boys is a love of good books. B especially will sit on my lap for hours while we read book after book. Finding good books to add to our collection can be difficult. We love books with simple words the boys can understand and big bright pictures for them to look at.

I Love You More Than Chocolate fits both of these stipulations. I was very pleased with the quality of this book both in the way the words are lyrics to a song and in the large bright pictures of things the boys know what they are. I also love that this book because it is a book that relates the feelings I have for my children which makes it a wonderful gift for any child you want to know how much you love them.

Please make sure you check out this great book today and head over to win during Lots of Love.

A Dentist Visit

It is almost time for another dental visit for the boys and I've been trying to decide when to schedule their appointments. In the past I have made their appointments after lunch but before naps so that they could come home and go to bed and forget about everything that happened. (I also do this with the doctor, especially if I know we are getting shots or tests.)

Now that the boys are getting older however, I am beginning to wonder if I can do their appointments at a different time of day. This becomes a big concern because I have class every day at nap time and if I want to have the appointments before school gets out I have to do it at a different time.

The other question we have been pondering is how often it is appropriate to take your children to the dentist. I know my mom used to take us once a year and the dentist recommends two times a year.

What do you think? Do you have a special time you like to take your kids to the doctor? Do you take them all at once or one at a time? And how often do you go? We'd love to hear what you think!

Truck Drivers

Today I am stopping to offer a plea to truck drivers and drivers in general.

As some of you know we live on a busy street and it is always amazing to me how fast people go even in the short distance between stop lights. The speed limit is 35 miles per hour (which in my mind is very reasonable) but people are often going 45-50 miles per hour on our road. This is very frustrating to me, not only because I have children and worry about them, but also because I have to back out of my driveway and as I am not the only one living on this street I know I can't be the only one with this problem.

What I think many people don't realize is that speed limits are there for a very good reason. They are there to protect you!

A speed limit is the speed that one can reasonably maneuver a roadway IN PERFECT CONDITION.

This means if it's windy, or raining, or snowing you need to slow down even more.

This does not mean that "I can go 4 over because the cop will only pull me over at 5 above the speed limit."

TRUCK DRIVERS: this goes for you too. Yes, we all know that your posted speed limit is slower, if you understand some laws of gravity you would understand this is not because we don't like you but because your trucks are larger and heavy and take longer to stop than a small car.

Please, from me and all the other mom's in the world (including your own), SLOW DOWN!

Lovable Labels Review

Between school, work, babysitters and other activities we are always moving around and I frequently don't have time to deal with lost items. Lovable Labels has been a big help in making sure I don't have to waist time on finding lost items. We have been using their labels for just over a year now and I have been so excited with what they can do. Not only do they look nice when you put them on but they stay looking nice even after a year of use.

I didn't get a picture of B and C's sippy cups because they were dirty but here is D's bottle with a Lovable Label going strong. When I first started making labels I used the boys' first names but I have found that I like using a last name much better. This means they can return it to the right family and I can pass things down from kid to kid without worrying about the name.

I also like the last name stickers for my school tools (calculator, scissors, computer) because I know they are not going anywhere.

If you've ever lost something due to just not knowing what was yours you've got to check these out and head over to our Lots of Love event to win a set of your very own.
