Cookies For Dinner Book Review

Most of the time when I sit to read a book I will choose a romance or a mystery of some type. These types of books tend to be my favorite because they allow me time to escape from the daily grind. Although Cookies for Dinner did not fit either of my usual categories it has quickly because a favorite and is a book I know I will turn to when I need to lighten the mom load.
I think Cookies for Dinner should be part of every mom's bookshelf because of the simple and meaningful way it is written. In this book two average women tell their stories of becoming mothers and share some experiences they had with their small children. Over the course of this book I laughed, I cried, and by the end I felt like I had two new friends. I was not alone! There are two women out there who, tho they are different ages and live miles away, relate to my mom feelings that seem so prevalent raising three little boys.
Each chapter of this book is filled with half a dozen or so stories of these two women's adventures in motherhood. They covered everything from birth, to fleas, to chicken pox, to potty training, to car sickness. It truly is a treasure trove for any mother who occasionally has a down day and needs to feel not quite so alone. All it takes is five minutes to read a page and you'll be filling better in no time.
I can't wait to share this book with all of my mom friends, especially those with newborns. It's going to make a great addition to a gift basket when I put a personal note in the front cover again reminding them that they are not alone. I'm thrilled to have the chance to share this book with you and am anxiously awaiting the next edition.

Newborn Necessities Book Review

Newborn Necessities by Jennifer Cigale is a wonderful little book that will help a new, and especially first time mom, adjust to her baby over the first week of their life. This fun little book begins by telling you about the Newborn Necessities of the first week, better known as how often your baby should be eating, and how many dirty and wet diapers to expect each day. This information is followed by two helpful charts allowing you to record these events for the first week of your child's life.

As I said this would be super helpful for a first time (and even a third time) mom. It would make a great addition to a gift basket and we are excited to have it be part of our Ohh Baby Baby package this week!

Baby Dipper Review

Have you ever wondered why feeding your baby, something you do all the time, seems to take more hands than you have available? I know when we feed D it takes one hand to hold his hands, one hand for the spoon, and another hand for the bowl. This can be very frustrating as I only have two hands, don't know about you. The good news I have today is that Baby Dipper is helping to solve this problem for moms, and dads, with two, or fewer, available hands.

The Baby Dipper is designed with a triangle shape and a sloped bottom so that you can get the food out easily. I never realized how much that would help but let me tell you, you won't have to hold the bowl to get that last bite of applesauce again! Their spoons and forks are also designed so that your child will be able to use them to easily feed themselves at a young age without smearing as much on their face. My only concern is that the Baby Dipper bowl is small (the photo shows it with one jar of stage two baby food). This bowl is great but my son eats twice this much at an average meal. Help us Baby Dipper and give us another size. We love you already but we need you to grow with our growing child!

Costume Discounters Review

I am a sucker for cute costumes and that is exactly what we found at Costume Discounters. They sent us this adorable Thing 2 costume to review that the boys absolutely love! At first the boys were a little confused as to what was going on but when we sat down and reread The Cat in the Hat they thought it was great that they looked just like the characters.

This costume is a Child's small and as you can see it is a little big on the boys right now but it should be perfect by Halloween. I also love that this costume is fleece so it should help them stay warm on a cool evening. I can't wait to go find some awesome Dr Seuss costumes for the rest of the family so we can all go trick-or-treating together.

Fun with Savings

We had fun shopping this week. I hated that I had to buy toilet paper but we were out so I got the best deal I could find. We also used a rain check on cat litter so that cost us quite a bit. We shopped Walgreens, Target, Kmart, Staples, and PetSmart (fish not pictured).

Total Spent: $122.61
Total Saved: $94.89 (43.6%)
Rewards Remaining: $71.54

Lovely Knits Review

Thank you to all of you who have entered the Spring Fashionista giveaway! If you haven't make sure you head over to do so as there are over $20,000 worth of fashion items up for grabs to help get your closet ready for spring.

Today I want to tell you more about one of our sponsors, Lovely Knits. Lovely Knits is a wonderful place to find knit hats. They sent us an adorable knit hat for the boys to review. The biggest problem we have had with it is convincing them to take it off. B even sleeps with it on if he can get away with it.

The hat fits B really well, it's slightly big on C, and it has been perfect for our "spring" weather (we've gotten 4 inches of snow today and it's still coming down). It is so nice that the hat covers his ears so they stay warm and out of the wind. I also love the colors because he can wear it with just about anything and have it be appropriate.

Not only does Lovely Knits have adorable boy hats but they also have some awesome girl hats! I love the large selection of styles and colors. Make sure you check out their awesome selection (and thank them for sponsoring) today!

EZ Sox Review

With 3 small children getting out of the house can be a big challenge. When I am going by myself with the kids I plan about 30 minutes to get everyone ready and in the car. That is a long time so we go out very little unless E is with us.

When I found EZ Sox I thought they would be a great way to speed up the getting ready process and they work great. The little loops really do help the kids get their socks on easily. B loves the pictures but as you can see, C hasn't quite figured out they go on top yet (and he's too stubborn to let me fix them).

The socks themselves have washed up great. The white ones have been almost black at times and as you can see, they do go white again. My only concern with the socks is that they are not quite as thick as the ones I usually put on the kids during the winter but as spring approaches (hopefully) they should be able to wear them without any cold toes.

Overall we love our EZ Sox and they have certainly simplified our getting ready routine. I think they are a great idea for toddlers and I so wish I would have had some of the adult ones during my pregnancy days. Make sure you check them out today and head over to win 2 pairs of your very own EZ Sox during Spring Fashionista.

Dawgs

I love my husband dearly but he does have a few quirks that drive me crazy. One of those is that he wears shoes all the time. As someone who does everything possible barefoot this is uncharted territory. His wearing shoes all the time not only keeps my carpet nice and dirty but it also hurts when he steps on one of the kids, or myself, and we frequently have tears when he steps on a toy and breaks it.
I've been looking for a good way to help with this problem and finally decided the first step was to get him to change his footwear when he got home. Anything had to be better than the steal toes work boots he was wearing all the time When Dawgs offered to send me a pair of their shoes to review I figured they'd be perfect for this first step.
I do have to say that it took a while but we finally have E looking forward to taking off his boots when he gets home. He does still put on his Dawgs and wears them everywhere but it is progress. Now the boys and I are reminding him that his Dawgs are super easy to slip on and off as he goes in and out of the house. Hopefully one day soon he'll make good use of that fact. In the meantime his Dawgs are holding up wonderfully and work great as an all around shoe. I love that they are easy to clean and he really can wear them everywhere!
