I've mentioned before how dangerous weight loss fads, like hcg, can be. As I've started my weight loss venture I'm happy to say that I have been doing it naturally and that I am having great success. After just two weeks of dieting I am already one sixth the way to my goal weight without harming myself or my nursing baby. I am so excited about my transformation and can't wait to show you the difference when I've met my goal. It's so exciting to become myself again after having a new baby and although I don't necessarily enjoy the work of the journey I love the end result. Supplement Your Health with Bulu

With all the sickness going around there is something to be said about working to keep yourself healthy. The big problem is finding out what you need to do so. If you want to try a few vitamin and supplement samples you can do so with a Bulu Box. They will send you a selection of samples to try. Dressing Up Your Dirty Spots

There are some parts of a home that just aren't appealing to look at. One of those at my house is the trash cans. They tend to be overflowing (it's much to cold to take it outside these days) and since I have old hand me down trash cans too it's just not very nice to look at. The other day I threatened to buy a "pretty" trash can. You know, the stainless ones with lids and hubby just about had a heart attack with the price. I suppose for now I'll have to deal with my Designerliners to dress things up. They do ok but I sure would like something with a lid. Maybe someday soon.

Learn to Love with Hugo

Recently I had the chance to review a copy of Hugo the Happy Starfish by Suzy Lieberman with my boys. This was a wonderful story about a starfish who learns that the secret to happiness is sharing. I just love books that teach kids something and I am super excited to have this as part of our library! It is written wonderfully. The characters are interesting and the pictures are awesome! This book also teaches some basic Spanish vocabulary and talks about time which makes it a great all around learning book.

Valentines Decorating with Wedding Centerpieces

With Valentines Day just around the corner it's time to start thinking about some fun decorating ideas. We've already been working with B on drawing hearts and hopefully he can help us cut some out to put in the front window. For the table I found some beautiful wedding centerpieces to help keep things festive. Now the only thing I have left is to find a gift for E. I honestly have not idea where to start this year so I guess I better get looking. If you have any great ideas for me please leave a comment! I'd love suggestions!

A Baby Feet Obsession

We all know that baby feet are adorable. I mean come on, I just can't get enough of those little toes. These little feet have recently led me to a new line of interest baby socks and shoes. I mean boy accessories are ok but little girl accessories, man, I'm hooked. I just love all those little pink shoes with ribbons and bows. You should see the pink fur boots I found on clearance this week! I also just won some fun little girl socks that I can't wait to get here. Thank Heavens for little girls!

Mom Jobs

As a mom there are lots of different jobs I get to do. I get to tend kids, change diapers, give medicine, be a taxi driver, and so much more. Some of these jobs are not so great (changing diapers) but others I actually enjoy very much! Probably my favorite mom job is being able to cook for my family. Lately we have been trying lots of new recipes that are wonderful! One reason I love cooking is because I have great kitchen equipment and great kitchen tools. These two things make a world of difference when it comes to enjoying the time you spend in the kitchen and since everyone has to eat, our investing in these things has helped to make us happier and healthier as a family.

We are excited to announce that here at Kerrific we are revamping. We are super excited about our new look but want to give you a heads up that things might get crazy for a while as we change to our new page design here at the blog and our new business facebook page design. We are really excited about turning over a new leaf and becoming an easier blog to follow and navigate. I can't wait to show you all the changes!

We also want to take this time to announce that once our makeover is complete we will be hosting a HUGE giveaway event to celebrate our re-grand opening. It's going to be something that you don't want to miss. Ticket to Hollywood by Gary Reilly

I'm still not sure exactly how I feel about Ticket to Hollywood by Gary Reilly. The story itself was about a Taxi Cab driver, Murph, who had a purse left in his car and his mission to find the owner in Hollywood. Murph himself is a very interesting character and I was never quite sure what he was going to say or do next. It certainly is a page turner as you follow him around in search of the owner of the mystery purse. If you like a good laugh this is a story you won't want to miss.

Fashion at my house is often very haphazard. My goals in life tend to be to keep my kids under control and to stay warm (especially on days like today where the high is still in the negatives). A World of His Own by Arlette Gaffrey

I just spent another full day reading. I loved it and feel so much more relaxed now but I have soooo many other things to do. Oh well, they will wait a little longer while I tell you about A World of His Own by Arlette Gaffrey.
This is an excellent book set in the early 1800 is New Orleans. It's easy to tell from reading the book that Arlette is a New Orleans native because there is great depth about the customs and the city itself which made me feel as if I was really inside the story with the characters.
The story itself is about Andre, a Frenchman who in his childhood escaped the Revolution but not without loosing his parents. In his search for a new home, Andre decides to travel to the new world. While aboard the ship he makes a new friend, Charles, who encourages Andre to come to New Orleans and settle near him and his family.
Upon arrival in the new city Andre is very pleased with what he sees and does agree to make his home there. The story then becomes the tale of Andre as he strives to build his own plantation. We hear of his loves, loss and discovery of what family really is.
I loved this book! It was an excellent read and one that any romance or historical fiction readers won't want to miss. One of my favorite parts was that there was a good amount of French and I have enjoyed teaching my children some of the French phrases I learned in my high school French classes. It's been lots of fun!

New Year Clearance *Adult*

It seems like EdenFantasys always has some sort of clearance going on. This week it's the New Years Clearance Sale. I just spent a little time browsing clearance this morning and I know I'm going to have to place an order. I'm thinking ahead to the year and finding some great deals that I don't want to miss out on.

I Can't Believe My Cat Did That

If you've read our about us page you know that we have two cats, Z & Z. They are great most of the time. We first got the two because we were fostering for our local humane society. I kinda got thrown into the cats when three pregnant moms showed up at our facility the same day and each needed to go to a different home. When we didn't have enough homes available I said, "well how hard can it be?"
From that point on we had lots of different foster cats. The two we finally ended up keeping were two out of a litter of four. They were super good with my small children and very cuddly.
Recently I have been reading Chicken Soup's I Can't Believe My Cat Did That! and I have to laugh at how many of these stories are similar to the funny cat stories of my life. You really can't go wrong with a feline friend as far as I'm concerned.

What is hcg?

You have all seen me writing about weight loss and hcg recently. Well, what is hcg exactly? HCG, or human chorionic gonadotropin (I think I'll stick to the initials), is a hormone. It is produced by the placenta during pregnancy. That seems simple enough however, some cancerous tumors produce this hormone as well although no one seems to be certain why. The important thing to remember is that as of December 2011 the sell of hcg diet products is illegal and unsafe. Please stay away from products containing hcg as you start your diet this year! There are too many ways to safely loose weight to risk using products that aren't.

I'm never quite sure how I feel about Family Vinyl Car Decals. Sometimes they are cute but then they start peeling (especially if you have a windshield wiper) and things get ugly pretty quick. When I was asked to review one I knew exactly what I'd do. I got one with turtles on it and put it on the side of my tub. It looks adorable and gives my bathroom a little bit of style, something my house is sorely lacking. If you're looking for an inexpensive addition to your bathroom try this simple idea yourself!
