I will admit, last year was a rough one at the Kerr house. We had a lot of challenges and blogging kinda fell away. I'm excited to be back more this year and bring you even more great content! To get us started, here's a little update on the family.
Aubrey - I have been busy being a mom. With eight kids that fills up most of my time. I also teach English as a Second Language to Chinese students through Qkids. It has been a great experience and I enjoy spending time with these children every morning. It's always fun to watch their faces when they find out I have 8 children and many animals. With the spare I love being here at the blog, running Kerrific Children's & Maternity Boutique and reading. This year I am participating in the Extreme Book Nerd challenge through our local library again and hope to achieve reading a book from all 75 categories before December. I also recently enrolled as a student at BYU-Idaho to finish my bachelors degree. This should bring a lot more excitement to my days as I try to keep up with the much younger students.
B is now 10 (fifth grade) and is my biggest helper. He loves school and excels in every subject. B also participates in Scouting and likes to run with his school's cross country team. He has also set a goal to become a Book Nerd this year with the kids challenge and has set a goal to read from 25 of the categories. He will also participate in 4-H again this summer which he enjoys.
C is 9 (third grade) and the child I can never keep up with. He is also a very good student and recently became a Multiplication Ninja by memorizing all his multiplication facts through 12x12. Wow! C also participates in 4-H and scouts and enjoys many ball sports.
D is 7 (second grade) and it has been amazing to see him grow both in height and knowledge this year. D is quickly falling in love with reading and loves spending time reading to his younger siblings. He is excited to begin scouts this year and again participate as a 4-H Cloverbud.
Erik is still working at BYU-Idaho. He loves his job as campus arborist and has made many good friends while there. The hardest part of the job is the odd hours during snow removal but that's nothing new so we manage. At home this year Erik helped with several home repair projects including moving the family out for 2 weeks while our roof was repaired from hail damage. In the meantime he has also remodeled our bathroom, replaced floors throughout the main living area, and built many new animal pens for Kerrific Gardens.
F is 6 (first grade) and loves everything princess! She was thrilled to attend our local Princess Ball this last year and takes every opportunity to dance. F has also been participating as a 4-H Cloverbud and it's been exciting to watch her gain confidence as she learns to read and do other "big kid" things.
G is 4 (preschool) and is the family snuggle bug. She loves being the big sister to the little three and is very good at helping mom while the big kids are at school.
H is 3 and loves the chance he gets to be mom's big helper while G is at school. Although he doesn't yet talk, H is very good at communicating what he wants and has the best facial expressions and acting abilities I have ever seen in a 3 year old. He is great entertainment any day of the week!
I is 19 months and thankfully learned to walk just weeks before little sister arrived. He loves to be a big help and is so proud he has learned to give sister her binky. He loves to take it away so he can show you how good he is at giving it back. He's a little stink but we love him dearly!
J is 3 months old now. She's a sweetheart and snugglebug! She's slowly learning to sleep longer at night and we love that she will smile at us. What a joy!
All in all, we are loving life in our little homestead in the city!
