    Support Breast Cancer Awareness

In case you haven't heard, October is breast cancer awareness month. People do lots of different things to think pink in support of breast cancer awareness and this year I am sporting my awesome new t shirt for the cause.

I just love this shirt. It not only fits well but the saying makes me smile every time I see it. I've gotten a ton of second looks at the store. As a fan of baseball this has been a perfect shirt and I know it's going to get lots of use!

On a side note, the shirt is a good quality and washes well. Other then the fact that the shirt is white and I have kids, it is a shirt that I very much enjoy and plan to wear often.

You can find this shirt, and many other great breast cancer awareness shirts at breast-cancer-tshirts.com. You'll love their amazing selection, fun saying and great graphics for sure!

    Baby Loading

So for once in five years I'm not wearing maternity clothes but that doesn't change the fact that some of them are simply adorable. Recently I found some of the funniest maternity shirts I have ever seen like this Baby Loading shirt. I can't wait to give this one to its intended recipient. The shirt itself is made of very nice fabric and it seems to be true to size. The color is a very bright pink and will look nice on almost any expectant mom.

I just can't believe the great variety of t shirts that are available! There are so many fun sayings it's so hard to choose what to get. I have a long list and every time I see a new saying I have to share it with my family and friends, especially those who really need that shirt - I'm sure you know exactly what I'm talking about. My latest favorite says "pumpkin smuggler". He he.

What is your favorite shirt saying? Com on, let me hear it!

The Courier of Casewell Hall by Melanie Dobson

I love reading historical fiction and The Courier of Caswell Hall was no exception. This amazing book takes place during the revolutionary war and tells the story of Lydia Caswell, a member of a Loyalist family who really only wants peace. After a chance encounter with a wounded soldier Lydia decides to do what she can to end the war, for better or worse. Her journey full of secret networks, couriers, disguises, and coded messages makes for an amazing story that you'll want to make sure to read.
This book was great and I would recommend it for anyone who enjoys reading. The book is appropriate for people of all ages but does contain some battle scenes with a reading level is pre-teen plus.

Reading Time with Mark-My-Time Digital Bookmarks

With B starting school one thing has been consistent, that he has homework every day. I really like this feature of his new charter school because it really allows me to see what he's learning and how well he's doing as I help make sure it's getting done. The homework is generally not hard and only takes a few minutes. Once it's done we get to do our favorite part of our after school assignments, reading.

To help with our daily reading plan, Mark-My-Time sent us a Digital Bookmark to test out and we love it! This book mark is perfect to go in our books and not only keeps our place, but is also an easy way to make sure we get our full ten minutes of reading in each day.

The bookmark itself is made of a foam like material that has proven to be very sturdy. The timer itself has three buttons, start/stop, count up, and timer. It's easy to set and has a cheerful alarm sound that marks the end of your timed reading session.

After visiting the Mark-My-Time website I also love that you can get a classroom pack of these amazing bookmarks and/or do fundraisers with these amazing learning tools. I know that I'll be taking this info to our school so they can learn about this fabulous new reading aid!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Back to School with Del Monte Fruit Burst Squeezers + $50 Walmart Gift Card Giveaway

Back to school is always a crazy time. As hard as you try to plan it's a challenge to find a new routine that fits your family. This year, our family has had the chance to include Del Monte Fruit Burst Squeezers in our back to school routine. They have made our life interesting and fun but mostly, they have helped fill the gap of time between meals with a healthy snack that we all enjoy.

Everyone at my house got a chance to try Del Monte's Fruit Burst Squeezers and we enjoyed all the flavors with the exception of the peach-mango which I thought was good but the kids didn't like quite so much. Other then that, we loved these little pouches and they are sure to become part of our regular school routine.

My favorite part about the Fruit Burst Squeezers was that we could take them with us anywhere. They were a great to take in the car for my little kids that needed a snack while we went to get big brothers from their activities but they also made a wonderful after school snack or pick me up for after naps. I plan on using these for lunch boxes once I have all day school kids too. It's going to be an amazing way to help my kids get the fruit and veggies that they need. The only thing I'm waiting for is to see what amazing flavors Del Monte comes up with next!

Because we want you to try Fruit Burst Squeezers in your home we are excited to announce that Del Monte is giving away a $50 Walmart gift card to one Kerrific reader so you can get some Squeezers for your family.

Avoid Tragic and Stressful Situations with a Limo Service

Everybody could use a good night out on the town sometimes. However, drinking and driving is always a terrible decision that can lead to catastrophe. High school dances are great experiences for kids today. Going to prom is a part of growing up and it creates memories that will last a lifetime. However, prom is also a time when most kids end up drinking and driving. Using a Chicago limo service is a great way to save you the trouble of many situations. If you’re about to have an awesome night drinking and partying in town, don’t take the chance of ruining it by drinking and driving. Hire a limousine service to cart you and the rest of your friends around all night long. Enjoy a night on the town partying without having to worry about a designated driver. Stress can kill your party mood quickly and it is much better to sit back and let a driver do their job. Stress can also kill your mood at home waiting for your child to get home from a high school prom or dance. Squash the stress ahead of time by hiring them a driver to make sure they do not make the decision to drink and drive.

    Make a Beneficial Business Gesture
Renting a driver’s services can also help you in other aspects of life. Making positive gestures to business clients can help swing their decisions towards your favor. Hire a limo service for your clients to impress them. They will feel like you truly value their business. Also, they will feel respected and that you are generous. This business gesture could end up helping you seal some very important deals.

Reduce Your Stress and Achieve Your Daily Goals
Nobody needs extra stress in today’s world. However, driving around a big city can get frustrating and stressful quickly. Stress can get especially high if you don’t know your way around. Even if you know your way around the city you could always use a break from driving. Hire a Chicago limo service to drive you around so that you can relax and focus on accomplishing your goals for the day.

World Sight Day - Protecting Your Vision

Most of you know that both C and I wear glasses. I come from a long line of family needing corrective eye wear so for me getting a vision exam is just a normal part of life. Last week, I had the chance to participate in an educational briefing about vision care in honor of World Sight Day and I was surprised at how much of the knowledge I assumed was common was, in fact, not that way at all. The briefing was given by Dr Desiree Carrillo-Owen, Medical Adviser to The Vision Council and Optometrist at north Short Eye Center in Chicago, IL. Dr Owen gave some great information as part of this briefing about how to take care of our eyes. She discussed three main types of eye protection, UV protection, digital protection and everyday protection.

As far as UV protection goes, I know that at my house we often forget to protect our eyes. Especially now that it is cooling off we put our sunglasses and hats away and are much more concerned about being warm then saving from sunburn. Dr Owen says that everyone should wear UV eye protection year round because unprotected exposure can cause temporary and permanent vision problems. When buying sunglasses, she said the brand is not important as long as we buy from a  trusted source, choose a pair that are comfortable, look for a sticker or label indicating UVA/UVB protection and actually wear them. It's good to know that we don't have to spend lots of money on sunglasses for them to do their job.

Another concern that we don't often think about is digital eye strain. I know that I spend a lot of time in front of digital screens and that this can fatigue my eyes and produce symptoms including dry and irritated eyes, blurred vision, headaches, and back and neck pain. I have suffered from many of these things in the past but Dr Owen had some simple suggestions for helping here too. First she suggested keeping your screen clean, you know all those pesky kids fingerprints don't help, and reducing lighting to avoid glare. She also said that keeping 20-24 inches between you and the screen and positioning your computer 10-15 degrees below eye level will help prevent digital eye strain. Something I didn't know is that there are also special computer glasses available for those who spend more time with digital devices. I know I will be asking my doctor about these during my next eye exam.

At the end of the presentation, Dr Owen briefly discussed that there are many times when we might need eye protection during our daily activities including, but not limited to, sports, home improvement projects, yard work, crafts, cooking, and cleaning. A little bit of eye protection can go a long way to making sure that you have great vision for life. And as always, make sure you eat right, maintain a healthy weight, monitor your blood pressure, exercise, avoid smoking, wash your hands, and, of course, get regular eye exams to help protect your vision for life!

9thandElm.com Amazing Fashion Deals + Giveaway

This is a Fashionista Event. I was given a promotional item to review by 9thandElm.com to share my opinions about the website.
     All opinions are my own.

It's been a fashion month so far here at Kerrific and we're not ready to stop that yet. This week we are featuring 9thandElm.com as part of a Fashionista event. If you haven't checked out this amazing new site yet you must head over there and see all the amazing deals that they have.
I received a gift certificate to 9thandElm.com and picked out some amazing maxi skirts!

These are the three skirts that I ordered and I love all three of them! The solid colors are my favorite right now because I can wear almost anything with them although the stripe skirt has gotten some use as well. The hardest part about ordering the skirts was that, because 9thandElm.com has many individual vendors, there weren't any size charts to help me out. Thankfully these skirts were true to size so they fit me well. Other then that ordering was awesome and the skirts are a great quality that I got for a good price.
I just love that maxi skirts are so fun to wear because they are so kid friendly. I can easily wear these with my kids around and not worry about who is seeing things that they shouldn't. The other thing that I love is that these skirts are very good in our lovely Idaho wind. My picture was taken in the least windy spot of our yard on a day that was only slightly windy and you can still see that my skirt was blowing. It's so nice to be covered no matter what is going on.

Today I am excited to announce that 9thandElm.com is sponsoring a giveaway through Fashionista events. There are three amazing prizes up for grabs. Grand prize is a $200 credit to 9thandElm.com and two runners up will both receive $100 credits. Make sure you run over to visit them on Facebook or Twitter and tell them thanks for the amazing chance! Good luck!

By entering this event, please note that you are agreeing to be subscribed to 9thandElm.com newsletter.

Quiet Time with My Dolphin Show

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of My Dolphin Show.
    app_icon
Every day I do my best to get the kids to take naps. Yes, B and C are getting a little old but we are all much happier when nap time works. Unfortunately, some of my children tend to sleep a lot longer then others and for some reason I'm never quite ready when the first of them wakes up. Lately I have been trying some new tactics to keep the older children quite while the younger ones are still napping. One of these is the FREE app. The boys have had a lot of fun with this new game. I love that it was free to download and that there aren't any in game ads while the kids love the fun graphics and challenging tasks.

The My Dolphin Show game is very easy to play. To complete each level you direct the dolphin to do different tricks like jumping to catch a ball or clearing a net. My two year old is a little small by the other two boys can easily complete the lower levels while I work ahead to complete the higher ones. It's great entertainment for those times when you don't need any brain power, or simply don't have any left. One of our favorite parts is that as you level up you can change the "clothes" of your dolphin. My boys really like making their dolphin look like Nemo. It's kinda silly but boy to they laugh!

You can get this free app from Amazon, the App Store, or Google Play today! It is downloaded free, without adds, and just takes minutes to get started (you don't even need a Facebook connection to level up). It's a great choice for anyone with children to keep on hand. I know my boys like it and I'm guessing that girls through pre-teen will be thrilled with the graphics and activities it offers as well. Happy Shopping!

My Dolphin Show is a fun, FREE app in which you get to swim, play and perform tricks like a real dolphin! Over time, your dolphin will complete different tricks that increase in difficulty, allowing you to gain more points as the game continues. As a kid-friendly app, you can play along with your children and share quality bonding time in an entertaining and safe way.
Download the app now from the Apple App Store, Google Play and Amazon using the following links:

    Taking Care of Antique Carpets

An antique rug is one that was made at least 80 years ago. Due to their age, antique carpets are something that becomes more and more rare as time goes by. The older the rug, the more the selling price will be. Some people deal only in antique rugs and carpets, much like pieces of valuable art. In fact, the market for both art and antique rugs has other similarities as well. The most important similarity is that antique rugs, just like art, must be cared for responsibly and conservatively.

     Spills and Stains

Each type of antique rugs is made out of different materials. Much of this is dependent on the location it was made and the time period it originated from. Persian rugs are typically more stain repellent while oriental rugs are less so. Both the age and the country of origin tell the owner what type of fabric and other materials were used to make the rug itself. In many cases, if a spill occurs on any type of older rug or carpet, it can usually be blotted up without a stain if it is tended to immediately. There are several exceptions like coffee and red wine that pose a much more serious situation. Professional carpet cleaners advise owners to stay away from household remedies and chemical cleaners if a stain does happen. Many of these types of cleaners have additives and other abrasive compounds that can interact poorly with the fabric or even cause color damage to occur. If you notice a stain, consult a professional carpet cleaner for advice and a possible appointment.

    Regular Cleanings

It is a good idea to have antique carpets and rugs cleaned and maintained every five years or so. If used in a higher traffic section of your home, cleanings should be more often. If hung on the wall or kept safely in storage, cleanings can be done less often. When cleaning these types of carpets, always choose a professional carpet cleaner who has a lot of experience with antique rugs. They will have the know-how and equipment that will keep your carpet clean and safe.

    Cover Your Hair for Fall

In case you haven't noticed yet, Baby F doesn't have much hair. On that note it is getting quite cold here in Idaho so we have been having a fun time picking out hats for her to wear that will keep her head warm. Recently we were sent two fun hats from CoverYourHair.com to try out. They are both pretty cute and if I could just convince F that keeping a hat on is a good thing life would be great. Instead, I think I'm going to have to find a hat I can buckle under her chin because she will not keep these on to save her life.

If you're looking for some fun items to help cover your hair (or lack thereof) make sure you check out this awesome website to help you out!

Honey and Lace for Mother and Daughter

Have I ever mentioned that I'm one of those obsessive moms that like her kids to match (especially in public). It's happening less and less as the kids get older and are more in control of their own morning routines. Thankfully, there are still some times that I can make sure that they look nice, Sundays being the most noticeable because we have church early and I lay out their clothes before I wake them up.
This fall I have had the chance to try out a mother and daughter set from Honey and Lace. They have bright, fun maxi skirts that I just love. F and I had a fun time wearing ours to church last week and enjoyed being matching for some photos. Her skirt is a little long (she's an 18 month size and the skirt is a 2) but that just means we get to enjoy it longer.
My skirt fits great and I have to say it is one of my very favorite maxi skirts, a staple in my closet. Not only are the colors adorable but the fabric is higher quality than many I've seen in this price range. The style of these skirts is just a little more flowing then some which I also enjoy because it makes it easier to walk and tend my children (you know as they run out of the building and I have to go catch up).
If you're looking for some fun mother/daughter sets, or even just a fun fall skirt for yourself, make sure you check out Honey and Lace. They have a great selection and are adding new items all the time. Go check out out and make sure to stick around to win during Fall Fashionista here at Kerrific!

October Tunic from Mothers En Vogue

Since F's arrival a year ago my closet has been going through some major changes. It was about time since many of my clothes have been around since I was in high school (thank you to a mom who planned ahead and bought classic clothes that wouldn't go out of style). Although there is nothing wrong with these clothes I have felt the need for something new and interesting. One of the things that has happened with this change is that I have decided that I love tunics.

I can't believe it has taken me this long to try tunics. I love dresses and used to wear them all the time but with kids I have found that a skirt isn't always practical. Tunics are a wonderful in between for me because they have the comfort of a skirt with the ability to not worry as much about who's seeing what as I deal with my children every day.

I recently had the chance to try Mothers En Vogue's Petale Tunic and I love it! It a super comfortable tunic, especially with their Crop Neck Tee underneath, and I just love the colors for fall. I am already planning to wear this to a few Halloween parties because it is so comfortable and cute.
Although Mothers En Vogue advertises mostly as a maternity and nursing store they have a ton of wonderful items that are perfect for everyday women. I have already added half a dozen of their items to my holiday wish list and I am always checking to see if they have something new. They have even come out with some fun little girl's items recently that match mothers outfits and I just can't wait until F gets a little bigger so we can match.

If you're in search of some amazing women's clothing you will want to check out Mothers En Vogue's amazing selection! You won't be disappointed. Just remember while you're looking that their prices are in SGD and you'll need to convert them to USD (generally about 1 SGD to .80 USD) to see how amazing the prices really are. Happy Shopping!
