Beauty Week for Mom

I know Mother's Day was a while ago but I just love spoiling mom. Yes, both me and my own mom. I've found some amazing new products recently that I wanted to share with you as great just-because gifts to make your beautiful mom feel special.

What Mom Really Wants For Christmas

You know that moment when your husband asks you what you want for Christmas (or your birthday or your anniversary)? Do you know how many times I've told E that all I really want is an uninterrupted nap? Ya, that doesn't fly very well. He wants to know what I would like that comes in a box. So this year, I've decided that what I really want is a camera, something besides my phone to take photos with. I want to be able to make memories with my family and actually remember them. In other words, I need more shots like these.

That means I've been checking out Best Buy to see what they have to offer. There are three options that I think would be great and last our family for many years.

Month for Mom: Dew on A Petal Review

About Dew on a Petal:  I am capable in many art and craft forms, starting with an art degree in printmaking. Over the years, I have picked up other skills such as jewelry making, crocheting, machine knitting, lampworking, sewing, embroidery, and of course, candle-making. 

I finally quit my job in 2009 after 32 years, moved out of Manhattan to my dream house in the sticks of upstate NY. I still visit NYC often where my daughter is an opera student at Juilliard. My other daughter, a graphic designer, is my semi-partner who has created my online identity and helps with other print media for my business. 

I hope you enjoy your visit and will come back often. My customers are such interesting people, and I enjoy working with every one one of you. Thank you!

My thoughts:

I was sent this wonderful gift basket to review. It included 2 candles, a bar of soap, and a wax tart in various fruity scents and a bath scrubbie. I was thrilled. The wax tart is probably my favorite part. It smells so delicious and I love opening my drawer where it is placed and smelling its wonderful scent. 

The candles are also wonderful and I have been very pleased with how they have burned. I have to make sure to light the pineapple one while my husband is at work as he's not a fan but I love it.

My Thoughts:


I don't usually wear flip flops because I feel they look tacky and make my feet look big but I really liked these from the moment I put them on. The cute bows were just enough to help hide my large and swollen feet, and they were casual enough to wear with my jeans without looking silly. I'm still waiting for it to warm up enough to wear them on a regular basis, we had snow again today, but I am very impressed with the quality and the style of these flops.

Month For Mom: Kim Madsen Designs Review

Kim Madsen makes beautiful paintings and plaques for every room in your home. She specializes in custom work and is very good at helping you design your special piece.

We were sent this custom wall plaque to review and enjoy. 

E was thrilled when I showed this to him as he had been wanting something of the sort for a while. The plaque came ready to hang including hardware which was wonderful (I always forget about things like that). It is now hanging on our wall and looks wonderful. The painting job is great and it has just enough shine to it that it stands out.

I love Kim's work and am already starting to plan what I want to put in our new home. I'm thinking this piece will look great in our new nursery.
