A few of you may remember last fall when I took a little break from blogging because my brother was injured in an accident. As we approach the anniversary of his accident I am happy to report that he has healed wonderfully from his broken back. Although he still can't do everything he used to do, he is able to be back at college and enjoy life. One thing the last year has tought me is to never take our physical abilities for granted. There are so many individuals with disabilities and I am so grateful for those who help look out for them.
One such group is NMEDA, a non-profit trade association of mobility equipment dealers, manufacturers, driver rehabilitation specialists, and others who are dedicated to expanding opportunities for disabled persons to transport themselves or be transported in modified vehicles. NMEDA has developed a Quality Assurance Program (QAP) to help promote quality, safety, and reliability within the industry. The QAP is the only program of its kind.
QAP dealers are important because they offer 24 hour local emergency assistance and in-person individual evaluations to those with disabilities. It is so important for those wtih disabilities to have this guarantee when they purchase a vehicle. For many with disabilities, like my brother, an accessable vehicle is a crucial part of their life as they travel to and from doctor's appointments on a regular basis. Having an accessible vehicle is a great asset in helping ot make their life simpler.
