At our house we choose to use a pocket diaper for our newborns. These work great once our babies are big enough (our little preemies don't fit very well in anything). The only problem we have had is that mom has to stuff them because dad's hands are too big.
Another popular option for newborns is a prefold. These tend to be less expensive and easier to fit to your baby. We have again found that these are much too large for our new babies but again please remember we are talking newborns under 6 lbs at our house.
Whatever option you decide please don't let cloth diapers frustrate you those first few weeks. It does get easier as mom gets more sleep (hopefully) and your baby goes through fewer diapers in a day. The best diapers for you are out there, and once you find them you'll never go back!
Thanks for the info! Any tips for taking cloth to the hospital? Would you recommend it?
