A Summer Vision


Summer is here and that means it's time to think about summer safety for ourselves and our kids. Most of us think about this as part of our daily routine. It's our goal as parents to keep our kids safe as they ride bikes, swim, play outside, and visit family and friends but how often do we think about protecting the unseen parts of our kids - the insides of their eyes? I know I don't think about it nearly as often as I should.

Unfortunately, we are forgetting to protect a very important part of our children's future. Some of the dangers of UV exposure to the eyes are sunburned eyes, cataracts, and age-related macular degeneration. That's some pretty serious consequences for a danger with a fairly simple solution. So what do we need to do? Add sunglasses to our daily dress routine.

What are the most important times and places to make sure you're equipped with  the coolest shades? Anytime your outside is a good start but here are a few things that the vision council wants to mention that you might not have thought of causing more trouble for your eyes.
