Cover Your Hair - Review & Giveaway

Cover Your Hair is a great shop with everything a girl could want to help cover their heads.

Starting with the very youngest of babies they have adorable hats and headbands with prices starting under $5.

Cover Your Hair has many items that I grew up using but can no longer find regularly in stores. Including things like foam hair rollers.

I was sent a Bandanna to try that I absolutely love. Bandannas work great with my hair because it is so long and fine however I have a hard time finding cute ones that are large enough. This one fits perfectly and I can tell you it will be used lots this summer. I also love all the fun color choices they have.

If you are looking for great hair accessories make sure you check out Cover Your Hair today. They have great prices for great items with flat rate shipping.

Month For Mom: Kim Madsen Designs Review

Kim Madsen makes beautiful paintings and plaques for every room in your home. She specializes in custom work and is very good at helping you design your special piece.

We were sent this custom wall plaque to review and enjoy.

E was thrilled when I showed this to him as he had been wanting something of the sort for a while. The plaque came ready to hang including hardware which was wonderful (I always forget about things like that). It is now hanging on our wall and looks wonderful. The painting job is great and it has just enough shine to it that it stands out.

I love Kim's work and am already starting to plan what I want to put in our new home. I'm thinking this piece will look great in our new nursery.
Make sure you visit Kim today in her SHOP and watch for a great giveaway later this month!

Toddler Tuesday: Laundry

blog.tinyprints.com
One of my two least favorite chores is laundry. I only do laundry because my deal with E is that if I do the laundry he does the dishes and dishes are the only job I dislike more. There is however one thing that makes doing laundry bearable. That is the fact that when I do laundry I get a date night.

That's right. I work hard all day and get all the laundry through the washer and dryer. Then I get to pile it on the bed. :) This forces E to help me fold it before we can get into said bed. Laundry night has become one of my favorite nights of the week. We usually start with a treat and then turn on a good movie and watch it together while we fold this HUGE pile of laundry. We get the chance to talk about our day, the boys, and what our plan is for the week (laundry night is usually Monday).

So today I want to say THANK YOU toddlers! You manage to go through more laundry than I ever see you using but I sure do love my "date" with your dad so please continue to create laundry for me.

Sunday Project: Egg Decorating

I've been wondering if we were going to dye eggs with B & C this year. Last year they showed no interest when we were doing them with the aunts and uncles. This year I'm afraid there will be just enough interest that we will have a big mess. This great article over at Quirky Mama gave me some great ideas on how to involve the kids without quite so much of a mess. Here eggs look awesome! You can check them out HERE.

This bunny would be great for that guy in your life.
Virtual Bunny

Or for a little excitement in your egg hunt this year try hiding a few of these

Date Night: Movie

I sent E to pick out our movie this week and he came home with Charlie St. Cloud.

Summary:
St. Cloud is a young man overcome by grief at the death of his younger brother. So much so that he takes a job as caretaker of the cemetery in which his brother is buried. Charlie has a special lasting bond with his brother though, as he can see him. Charlie meets up with his brother (Sam) each night to play catch and talk. Then, a girl comes into Charlie's life and he must choose between keeping a promise he made to Sam, or going after the girl he loves.

My Thoughts:
This was a typical E movie. For some reason he is drawn to the movies with the flashbacks and "ghosts." This was an ok movie but not one I will pick in the future. Certainly not one to watch before bed. It did have a good storyline and great theme.

Project: Play Silks

C is super sensory seeking right now and is driving me crazy! I have been looking for simple projects I can do to help him have toys to feel his sensory needs rather than filling them by doing things like biting and licking walls.

I found these play-silks over at The Evolving Homemaker and think this will be our project of the week. Rather then spending the time to order scarves as she did however I think I'm going to use some of my old slips. If I cut them up and finish the edges my kids will never know the difference.

Please let me know if you have a favorite sensory toy that is easy to make. We'd love to try it out!

Month for Mom: Family Room: Review

I was sent this adorable apron and hand towel set to review. The polka-dots were absolutely adorable and I have had a wonderful time wearing it. Unfortunately this is the only photo I have of the apron because every time I put it on it is dirty faster than E can get the photo snapped. I will work to remedy this but in the meantime I will tell you that it covers my huge belly wonderfully. It is so nice to have an apron that fits over my tummy so I don't have to worry about changing my shirt 5 times a day.

I have also really liked the hand towel. It also has adorable colors. My mom used to have hand towels like this and never used them but I am loving this one. My favorite part is that the boys cannot undo the button so I always know where my towel is. Who new what a great invention a button was?
Family Room has many other cute gifts too. I absolutely love her reading pillow and bookmark sets. They are on my list for my boys when they get a little older. If you're still looking for a great Easter gift make sure you check out this adorable toddler apron.
Make sure you stay tuned to win your own apron from Family Room later in this Month for Mom!

Sunday Project: Independence Day!

So first I guess I should tell you that we love the 4th of July. It is one of the holidays we look forward to the most. Partially because E actually gets time off work, but we are big fans of the whole thing.
We will start the day with the city parade. This gets more fun every year as the kids get older and have longer attention spans. We generally have a picnic with neighbors in the afternoon, then after naps head over to stake out a place for the fireworks. Our city shoots them off right above the river which is beautiful to watch.

Anyway, for our Sunday Project today I thought I would share with one of my favorite cake ideas. This is always a big hit not only on the 4th but also at Boy Scout parties and other places where the flag often takes center stage.

food network photo

Like I said, this cake is uber easy. We bake a white cake (I usually do it in a half sheet cake pan) and frost it with a cream cheese frosting (pick your favorite recipe). We then add blueberries, raspberries (or strawberries depending on what we can find) and frosting stripes. It is so easy to make and the kids love to help with the berries so it makes a great holiday project. Happy baking!

Sunday Project: Easter Baskets

There have been so many good Easter ideas recently there is no way I could tell you about them all. Here are a few of my favorites.

There are also some great Healthy Easter Ideas over at Heavenly Sayings.

If you have older kids there is a fun, but slightly messy, Easter Egg decorating project over at Knits and Reads.

Or for all you knitters these adorable Knitted Easter Eggs from Little Cotton Rabbits Free Patterns would make a wonderful seasonal decoration.

Don't forget about the basket! Pink Penguin has this simple and adorable Basket Tutorial.

There are so many fun crafts to do this Easter I don't know how I'll choose. Thank you everyone for sharing your wonderful ideas!

Our number one goal is to give your body and mind what it needs to make the best of your natural beauty, improve your self-esteem and enhance your overall quality of life.

About the Shop Owner:
“I’m inspired by the little things in life – the smell of the air in the morning, a fresh point of view, random acts of kindness, or just making a small difference in someone’s life. I also see beauty in many different things, from serene pictures, to spider’s webs with dew and patterns in snowflakes. I work full-time as a registered nurse and, while I was at nursing school, I learned about the importance of skin care. I’m a big fan of natural products, so I started to try out different formulations, making my own skin care products and trying out other products designed and made by friends. I really loved the outcome of my experiments, so I took the decision to make my favorite tried and tested formulas available to other people."

My Thoughts:
Serenity has cremes, soaps, salts and scrubs in many different scents. My favorite thing about this shop is that the owner is so helpful in finding the items that will work for you. Make sure you are following them on Facebook and twitter for great tips and advice on skincare.
