Bambo-Nature Review

It's time for Blog Bash Christmas to begin. This year I have so many great sponsors I was able to put together some awesome packages. As we approach the giveaway I will be introducing you to each of them. I encourage you to visit their shops, become their Facebook fans, follow them on twitter and show them some sponsor love so you are ready to enter this great giveaway.

Today I have the opportunity to introduce you to Bambo-Nature.

Bamboo-Nature is a great company that makes disposable diapers with that are 80% biodegradable. This makes them much more eco-friendly than normal disposable diapers.

Although we Kerrs really love cloth diapers with 3 kids using them there are times where cloth is simply not an option. One of these times is when we go to grandma's house because she will not touch cloth let alone allow us to wash them at her house. Having said this I am always looking for a great way to diaper my kids when we can't use cloth and I think Bambo-Nature offers a good alternative.

I will start by telling you about the only problem I had, that was the fact that these are measured in kg on the package. This was not a big deal as when you order the weight is listed in pounds and the packages are all different colors so it is easy to tell what belongs to who. Another bonus for those of you with multiple kids is that the size of the diaper is written in easy to read print across the bum of the diaper. This makes it super easy when they are in the diaper bag, or when your children so kindly empty all the diapers out of their original bags.

Below are pictures of C & D in their diapers. C is right in the middle of his size range and as you can tell the diaper fits wonderfully. D is closer to the bottom end so his diaper looks a little big but it still fits snugly and we had no leaks with either diaper. B also wore some of C's diapers (sorry there isn't a picture). He is at the very top of the size range and again the diaper fit well and we had no problem with leaking.

We had a great experience with our Bambo-Nature diapers. I highly recommend them to any mom who wants to help the environment but can't do cloth for one reason or another. They have great customer service and a wonderful product. Make sure you also follow them on Facebook and twitter to hear all the latest information.

Sweet Natural Soaps Review

It's time for Blog Bash Christmas to begin. This year I have so many great sponsors I was able to put together some awesome packages. As we approach the giveaway I will be introducing you to each of them. I encourage you to visit their shops, become their Facebook fans, follow them on twitter and show them some sponsor love so you are ready to enter this great giveaway.

Today I have the pleasure of introducing you to Sweet Natural Soaps. They have a wonderful line of beautiful and unique soaps that I have loved sampling. These soaps are obviously high quality. I'm using her shop photos because I can't get a good picture to save my life but they really do look just like she shows them. They are beautiful and I have had several complements from guests about my beautiful soap.

She has so many different scents and each one brings something new to life. E's favorite is the Blue Wave (right) while I am in in love with the Hot Chocolate (left). I mean who doesn't want to smell like chocolate?

As someone with allergies I have been very surprised that of the six scents I have tried, not one has caused an allergic reaction. This is incredible and tells me that her soaps are very well thought out.

Men, these would make a perfect gift for your wife, mother or daughters. Make sure you head over to check out the Black Friday prices. This soap will not soon be forgotten.

Thanks for sponsoring Sweet Natural Soaps!

Scrubs for Pajamas

As winter arrives I have to find warm pajamas. This winter I am having a hard time because my stash of warm pjs is all maternity sizes. This is so frustrating but I have been looking at some new pjs. One of the options I am looking at is a set of scrubs. These look so comfortable and when I wear them all day, which I like to do occasionally, I wouldn't look like I was wearing pajamas quite so much.

I love all the fun colors and prints scrubs come in. I know my kids would love picking out my clothes for me, something they already try to do. I think this is what I will tell E I want for Christmas. We'll see what the boys pick out for me.

This post was written for http://www.blueskyscrubs.com.

Crowd Control

Today was a day at the Kerr house where I felt I needed help with crowd control. We had crazy kids, animals, brother-in-laws here and I just felt like crap. I really wanted to barricade everyone in to cut down the noise and fighting that was going on. Thankfully E is wonderful and helped me get through the day. Hopefully the rest of the week will be better as me move forward to Thanksgiving.

Night Everyone!

Boba Review & Giveaway

I was so excited when Boba contacted me about reviewing their Boba Baby Wrap! I had hear that they were wonderful but had never had the chance to try one. This came at a great time because I was recently asked to work in our church nursery which currently has 25 kids between the ages of eighteen months and three years. Usually E can take D with him while I am there but occasionally I have to take D with me because E has other obligations. This wrap works so nice because it is easy to use and is comfortable to wear for long lengths of time. D loves it because he is being held close but can still look around and see what is going on.
We also took this on a family trip last weekend. We were going to a wedding for E's cousin and had lots of fun. Of all the women there with babies I was the one who was having the easiest time carrying their child.

As you can see, another thing we love about this wrap is that both E and I can use it. Many of the other baby wearing techniques we have tried do not fit both of us so I end up being the only one to carry the kids. This has been so awesome that we only need one thing and either of us can use it to comfortably carry our kids. I can't wait to take it camping with us this summer so we can all go on "hikes" together.

This Wrap has washed really well and, now that we have had a little practice, is simple to put on.

Thank you so much Boba for a great tool!

Boba has generously offered to give three readers their very own Boba Baby Carrier

Bath Time Fun

I'm always looking for great ideas for bath time because the kids can be so frustrating when it gets late and is time for a bath. This week I found this awesome idea for bathtub paint that I just had to share. It's made with shaving cream so it is very good for sensory play and why not clean your tub while you give baths? It's a great time saver! Show me what your little artist makes!

Family Emergency - Why I've Been Missing

I'm so sorry I have been MIA this last week. It's been hard but hopefully things will get better soon. Last Monday my brother, Uncle AL, who is serving as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints fell and broke his back. He went into emergency surgery Monday night and things have been a little bit crazy as we work to help him get what he needs. So far things are looking as good as they can. He is working with a PT and they are moving him to a rehab center today. The best news is that he still has a smile on his face. Thanks everyone for understanding and for those of you who have been praying. Things should get back to normal soon and I am working very hard to get everything organized for our Blog Bash Christmas so watch for some great reviews and and awesome giveaway soon!

Server

Post contributed by Hilton Miranda
I have served as a waiter for three years, and I actually enjoy the work. I am finishing my degree online, but I still work full-time as a server. My degree is going to be in business, and I think I would like to stay in the restaurant business in some capacity. Working full time as a server has actually brought me a reasonable income. I bought a home three years ago and recently switched to fixed-rate energy through Texas Electricity providers. I really like the fact that I know exactly how much my energy bill will be every month. I have heard others disparage the restaurant industry, but I have found it to be very interesting. Of course there are always some people who choose to treat their server very poorly, and those people often tip very poorly as well. However, I have met many interesting people, and some of the conversations that I have struck while serving dinner will stick with me for a lifetime. Serving has given me the opportunity to meet people I would have never met otherwise.

Family Comedy

This post brought to you by American Family Insurance. All opinions are 100% mine.

It is often hard to find comedy geared toward family but American Family Insurance has recently started a program called Stand Up For Family that does exactly this. This is a great program where some of todays most popular comedians provide family friendly comedy based on their own family experiences. It is fun to hear what they have to say about family life. They have some great topics including riding bikes, insurance, wedding anniversaries, taking baths, and many other random things.

What a fun way to remind people about the importance of family. This week we have had some major injuries at our house that have included emergency surgeries and hospital stays. These videos have been a great way to lighten the mood and remind ourselves how much we love each other. Families are so important and without them we would be lost. Please don't wait for an emergency to tell your family how much you love them. The holidays are coming and now is a great time to give a little extra love to those you care about the most. Your family is the one thing you should never want to loose.

Thanks for an awesome program AmFam!

Choosing the Right Dog

AJ is an adoptable Great Dane in Anaconda, MT
There are so many tips about choosing the right dog. I highly advise getting a dog from a shelter or rescue group. I found a great article at Petfinder with tips on how to find the right dog for you. Here are a few of my favorites.

  1. Ask about a return policy - a good shelter will accept any dog on return for life.
  2. Make sure you can spend time with your new family member outside the shelter before adoption.
  3. Find a trainer you like prior to adoption.
  4. Don't judge a shelter by it's cover. Meet the people and see what you think.
  5. Go with an open mind.
This is just the beginning of our pet adoption series. Make sure you check back next Thursday for more about adopting your new family member.

Undercover Mama Review & Giveaway

About Undercover Mama:

My Thoughts:

After having my Undercover Mama for about a month I'm not sure how I ever lived without it. As a education major I am frequently in the schools working which requires me to dress up. Unfortunately, most dress up clothes require an undershirt of some sort and my Undercover Mama has been a lifesaver! I am amazed at how easy it is to use and at how well it has held up through all the washings it receives. It is so nice to know that even when I am nursing in public I am appropriately covered and that I can wear the clothing of my profession and still take care of my baby. Thank you Undercover Mama for an incredible product. (PS. E has been told I need more for Christmas because one isn't cutting it.)

Undercover Mama has offered to give one Kerrific Reader their very own Nursing Shirt. To enter, please fill out the form below.

Modest Dresses

As I have been shopping lately I have been looking at dresses. I was recently asked to work with our 1 to 3 year olds at church and that means I need to change my wardrobe. Not that the clothes I usually wear are bad but they usually involve knee length skirts and heals, which do not mesh very well with playing on the floor with toddlers.

My new wardrobe does not need to be fancy, we all know the kids will not care, but it does need to be practical. For me this means modest dresses that do not fall off when I bend over and flat shoes. The fact that I am also a nursing mom throws another twist into this need. It is super hard to find a dress that modest and gives me the ability to nurse with. Usually if it is a dress I can nurse in it is a dress that will not be warm at all. This is so frustrating to me  because I am always so cold and generally end up wearing my coat.

Living in a small town can be so frustrating when it comes to things like this. I really don't want to get out the sewing machine but I think that is what might have to happen. Where do you find cute but functional dresses?

I am participating in a blogger campaign by Bucks2Blog and was compensated. However, the views and opinions are my own.

Winter Day Fun

We've had lots of snow at the Kerr house this week so I have been searching for fun activities for the boys that we can do with things I already have. I really like this one I found over at TinkerLab.There is so much good in this simple activity. It is good for fine motor, color choices, and sensory. I know C is especially going to love this activity. I'm way excited because I even know where all these supplies are located at our new house.

Have a great day!

Pirate Party Printables Review

About Pirate Party:

Kids will get a thrill from solving the treasure hunt riddles that will lead them from one location to the next until they discover the hidden treasure!! Treasure hunts are a terrific party activity for kids. They start with a riddle ( or clue) that leads to another location where they will find another riddle. For example the riddle: Red and shiny, Delicious to eat. I made Snow White, fall fast asleep This riddle would lead the children to find a red apple. Near the red apple they would find the next treasure hunt riddle. They continue solving riddles until the complete the game and discover the treasure! Get More Ideas about this Pirate Party Treasure Hunt Riddles Kit here.

My Thoughts:

I love great party printables. They can make planning a party so much fun and these are wonderful because a treasure hunt is great for any age. Make sure you check out these and all the great party printables today!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Sunday Project: Candy Corn Corn

At the Kerr house we are always on the lookout for easy crafts that won't cost us an arm and a leg. This week I found this Candy Corn Corns over at So You Think You're Crafty. I can't wait to get mine made for our Thanksgiving decorations! My favorite thing about these is that I can use all this leftover candy corn, E says he likes it so we got some but it never got eaten. I also love that I won't feel bad throwing these away at the end of the season which will save me on storage space.

Happy Crafting!

Horizon Review & Giveaway

About Horizon:

Horizon® is headquartered in beautiful Broomfield County, Colorado – an area home to many progressive leaders in sustainable, responsible business. Together with our parent company, WhiteWave Foods, we make caring for our community and the environment an everyday priority.
Because we’ve got roots decades deep in organic, conducting our business with an eye to sustainability is nothing new for us. And today we’re in good company, as more and more businesses embrace the priorities we’ve always held. We’d call that a big win for everybody.

My Thoughts:

For our family nutrition is very important and dairy is a big part of that. It was interesting when E and I met the difference in our liquid preferences. He grew up drinking soda and I grew up drinking whole milk. It was also interesting that between the four kids that grew up at E's house there were many broken bones and in our house of six kids we never had any. I do not think this is coincidence. I love all the great things Horizon has to offer and the great product they distribute.

Horizon has offered to give one Kerrific winner a mom relaxation kit to help you get the rest you need while you work hard to keep your kids healthy this school season. Please use the rafflecopter form below to enter.

Puppies vs. Babies: What do You Think?

This post brought to you by Puppies vs. Babies. All opinions are 100% mine.

I am frequently told how adorable my kids are. Moms in general seem to get this comment frequently about their babies. Who does not love a baby, or at least one that does not live at your house right? They are little and cute and make the silliest faces. Wherever you see a baby you will see grandmas pinching cheeks, aunts buying gifts, dads bragging and moms overworking themselves to keep up the appearances.

Having worked with the Humane Society for a number of years it has come to my attention that you have the same routine with new puppies. For the new pet owner having a puppy is lots of hard work while neighbors give treats, friends bring a new toy, and their spouse is busy showing off how well the puppy can sit.

Have you ever thought to consider which is cuter Puppies vs. Babies? My people today have dogs instead of children. Does this mean they believe puppies are cuter than babies? Now is your chance to vote in the Puppies vs. Babies online contest. The winner will take home $5,000 and the world will know who is cuter. Make sure you go vote today! They're all adorable, good luck choosing!

Date Night: Twister Party

I've always thought Twister made a great date night game. This week I found this awesome twist on this fun game over at you+me. I had to share today because it is fast getting to cold for this, although doing it in snow clothes might be fun too. I love that all you need is spray paint. I want to do this at a party and decorate cupcakes to put out like a twister mat for treats. You could do a dart board with balloons like a twister mat too.

What a great party!

Frozen Pipes are No Fun!

E and I were married in January and I'll never forget one of our fist big adventures as a couple. The home we were moving into was a rental that had been vacant for a while. I figured, since I had no idea who had been there last that I would give the place a good cleaning before we started moving in. When I went over to accomplish this task I realized that we had not water. After talking to the managers and verifying that they had, in fact, turned on the water, we set out to find what the problem was.

Of course, being January, the problem was a frozen pipe under the house. Once we discovered the problem we had to figure out how to fix it. By this time it was after hours on a Friday and we weren't very interested in waiting until Monday to get the problem fixed so E headed outside in his boots. What we discovered is that there was supposed to be heating tape and a heating rod along this pipe and that for some reason they had been removed and were lying in the snow instead.

We figured this would be a fairly easy fix since we could put the heat back on the pipe and eventually, hopefully sooner rather than later, the pipe would thaw. Thaw it did but that was only the beginning of our problems.

We knew the water was back as it came spraying out of the washer hookup and hit the wall with great force. Of course the knob was stuck so we were quite wet before we finally had the thing turned off. After that was done E headed outside to make sure everything looked ok under the house. That didn't go so well either. Finally, after some helpful neighbors found us a spare valve, handle, and various other parts we had functioning water.

It took us days to warm up after being soaking wet out in the snow all night. Next time I will be waiting to call the professionals!

I am participating in a blogger campaign for Bucks2Blog about frozen pipes and was compensated. However, the views and opinions are my own.

Adoptable: Sweet Jane

As we talk about adopting pets many people do not realize that there are pets of every shape, size and color who need a home. My kids were thrilled that we were able to foster some turtles similar to these for a family who had just moved to the area during their hotel stay as they searched for a home. It you want a quiet pet a turtle could be just the thing for you. Before heading to the pet store make sure you check out all the great turtles like Sweet Jane on Petfinder.

Love You More: The Divine Surprise of Adopting My Daughter by Jennifer Grant Review

About Love You More:

The obstacles, surprises, and moments of grace that Jennifer Grant experienced, working through the adoption process to bring home her daughter from Guatemala, forever changed her life.
Love You More tells Grant's deeply personal story of adopting her daughter, Mia. The process confronted her notions about what family means, pushed her into uncomfortable places, and - despite the waiting, adjustments, and challenges of a blended family - brought abiding joy.
Written for all parents but especially those interested in adoption, Love You More includes discussion questions, tips for prospective adoptive parents, and suggestions for readers on how to reach out in love and support for the world's most vulnerable people, including orphans. (Back cover).

My Thoughts:

Love You More was a very interesting story of adding a child through adoption. Although it is not what I would consider my typical pick it was a good read. The most interesting part to me was that it was written like a novel although it was very clearly more of a biography of sorts. Sometimes, at least for me, this made the story a little bit hard to follow at first but once I got into the story it wasn't as bad. Although I probably wouldn't recommend this to someone for a enjoyable reading book, I would recommend it to anyone who is considering adopting a child or anyone who wants to know more about the emotions involved in adopting. Because I have both friends who are adopted and friends who have adopted children I feel that Love You More gave me an unique insight to the process and allowed be to be a better friend to these individuals.

Promgirl Review

About Promgirl:

We have been selling prom dresses and formal gowns for 25 years.

Promgirl.net brings you the best prom dresses from America's top designers. You are sure to make a statement by wearing the perfect prom gown on your perfect prom night. Finding your favorite 2011 prom dress or homecoming gown is easy. Just browse through our famous Prom and homecoming gown designers: Tony Bowls Clarisse, Terani, Jovani and Scala. Our prom dresses and prom gowns are hand-made and hand-beaded individually and are shipped after one-two days of processing time.

My Thoughts:

I must say I was a little bit apprehensive about ordering a formal dress online. I always had custom made dresses thanks to a wonderful grandmother who has a great gift. When I was offered this opportunity by Promgirl I talked to my sister, who is just starting to date, and we decided we'd check it out. Auntie M chose this beautiful Clarisse Prom Dress to try.

When I first ordered the dress I was glad there wasn't a time crunch because I assumed it would take a while for the dress to arrive. To my surprise it was on my doorstep in less than a week. I was also amazed at the little box it was in. Amazingly, the dress was packed very well. There was little to no wrinkling and after hanging overnight it looks beautiful!

Auntie M has not had a chance to try it on yet, she doesn't come visit nearly often enough, but from comparing to my size it looks like it will be perfect! I know she will be thrilled as it is a beautiful, high quality formal that she, and her friends, can use for many occasions.

Although we were only able to try one formal there are so many beautiful ones to choose from. The prom dress 2012 line alone has sixty dresses, many of which could be worn for many occasions other than prom. I love this Jovani prom dress and really wish I had an occasion to wear it for, oh ya, and the body that would make it look good.

I will tell you that as much as I love this dress the one that I would probably order is this Mori lee dress. It is simple but beautiful and would help hide all my "mom curves". I love Promgirl and will be waiting for the day I have occasion to get a new beautiful dress. E has been taking a ballroom dance class this semester at school so hopefully we will have a chance to go dancing soon. It is one of my favorite things and having the right dress makes it even more fun!

All you ladies who are looking for an awesome new dress go check it out!

Butt Paste Review

We were send some awesome samples from Boudreaux to review. Although we got to try lots of items, I'm going to tell you about just a couple of our favorites today.

First is the Butt Bath. My very favorite thing about this was the smell. It made my little boys smell not quite so baby but it wasn't an adult smell either. One thing we learned quickly about this product was that a little bit goes a long way. One bottle lasted us almost 3three times as long as other brands have. The only problem we had was that it seemed to dry out the kids' skin more than usual but it was nothing a little lotion couldn't fix.

Our other favorite product was the Baby Kisses. On this one the only thing I didn't like was the smell. However it worked wonderfully! D has a bad habit of rolling off his blankets and rubbing his face on the carpet. As a result he often has rug burn on his face and the Baby Kisses worked wonderfully to help it heal. I even put some on my chapped nose during allergy season and it was wonderfully soothing and healing for my skin too.

Boudreaux has so many great products I can't tell you about all of them so go check it out!

Toddler Tuesday: Handprint Pumpkins

In keeping with the fall spirit here are some adorable pumpkins I'll me making with my kids this week. I found these over at San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools. They are a great activity for toddlers because they get to paint the circle (fine motor), use fingerprint for the leaves (sensory), and glue on the pumpkin seeds (fine motor). Besides they are an adorable decoration!

Happy Fall!
