Toddler Tuesday: The Perfect Picture

Today, in light of our recent family picture taking adventure, I want to share a few things I have learned about getting good pictures of my kids. We've all seen the posts for how to take great pictures of your kids but what if you're more like me and can't take good pictures of anything, come on I know you've all see my photos. Anyway, here is what I know about how to get great pictures of your kids when you can't do it yourself.

1. Try to find someone the kids know to take the pictures. This helps a lot! Even if it's not someone they know really well, if your kids see you are comfortable talking to them they will become more comfortable too.

2. Plan it for a place that is free of distractions, preferably someplace you frequent with your children. We love the empty lot/park across from our house.

3. Dress the kids in something comfortable. There is no point in trying to get my little boys to keep their pants clean during the shoot but that's half the charm when we get the photos back.

4. Make sure it is a happy time of day. AKA, no lunch time, nap time, bed time shots.

6. Have fun with your kids. If the camera is in capable hands they will do a great job of getting the perfect shot. Just have fun and don't worry about the photos until you see them later.

Following these few simple rules we had a great photo session. Here are just a few of the wonderful results. Oh, and our photographer's camera was broken at the time too.
